The Wakhan is incredibly cut-off from the rest of Afghanistan. It is also bordered by Khunjerab National Park in Pakistan and Wakhan National Park in Afghanistan.

Success stories. Wakhan National Park will protect over 70 percent of snow leopard habitat in Afghanistan, and it will bring desperately needed services to some of the poorest and most isolated people in the country.

Wakhan National Park encompasses soaring mountains, alpine grasslands, and unique wildlife in the northeastern part of Afghanistan, where it will preserve the traditional ways of life practiced by communities inside its borders.
